Star catalogue
The current catalogue includes ESA Gaia DR3 and Hipparcos data. Credits: ESA/Gaia/DPAC and ESA Hipparcos. Each star retains its identity and provenance.
Gaia data originate from the European Space Agency mission and the Data Processing and Analysis Consortium, funded by national institutions participating in the Gaia Multilateral Agreement.
Mars terrain
Product: Mars MGS MOLA – MEX HRSC Blended DEM Global 200m, version 2. Credits: USGS Astrogeology, NASA/MGS/MOLA and ESA/DLR/Mars Express/HRSC.
Elevation is in metres above the MOLA GMM-2B areoid. The display mesh comes from the sealed F1 bank. Zooming down to the ground does not add measured resolution beyond the source data.
Milky Way and Solar System
The Milky Way is a visual model constrained by astronomical references, including Reid et al. (2019), not a photograph of all its stars’ positions. The Sun’s appearance is a computed representation.
Mars’s approximate position uses NASA/JPL orbital elements; planetary frames follow NAIF references. These approximations serve educational exploration.
Software
Rendering uses Three.js. The galactic model retains Galaxy-Renderer credits. The service uses Python, FastAPI, Starlette and Uvicorn. Third-party licences accompany the distribution.
